Reflect on a Guest Lecture
The guest
lecture I used is Dr. Yuan Li who was introduced on April 13, 2018. She is the
Senior Manager of Armanda Supply Chain Solutions. She has a Ph.D. in Materials Science
from University of Texas at Austin. She also has a B.S. in Chemistry from
Peking University.
Armada creates
innovative, fully integrated supply chain solutions that deliver competitive
advantages and improve business performance for clients. They provide their
clients with visibility, measurement and proactive control of supply chains.
Some of their clients include McDonalds, Chick-fil-a, and Chipotle.

Dr. Yuan Li
spoke about many terms that are in chapter nine. She spoke about supply chains,
which is flow that begins with the purchase of raw materials and ends in the
sale of a finished product to an end user. She also spoke about making,
manufacturing, and operations management.
The article I
found was from Harvard Business Review and is called, “Seven Rules of
International Distribution” by David Arnold. The article explained things like
what could go wrong and why it would go wrong. He speaks about how the
distributors do not invest or are just not ambitious enough. This reminded me
of Dr. Yuan Li’s presentation because she spoke about the distribution networks
and the process of delivering.
